These are the terms on which you, as a member of a cricket club, use Longroom. They are shorter and plainer than the Club Terms of Service, which is the separate agreement between us and the club that pays for the service.
Your club pays for Longroom. You pay nothing, and nothing here can make you owe us money.
Longroom is operated by Tim Hoare, a sole trader trading as Longroom, of 9 Ingram Road, London N2 9QA. You can reach us at hello@longroom.app.
Your club controls your access. It invites you, and its administrators can suspend or remove you from inside the app, without asking us. That decision is your club's and not ours, so any dispute about it is between you and your club.
Suspension pauses your access and deletes nothing. You will see a screen telling you your club has paused your account. Everything you have — your conversations, your games history — stays exactly where it is, and your club can restore you at any time. You can still download your data and still delete your account while suspended; being suspended does not take those rights away.
Removal deletes your account, along with your conversations and games history, and we cannot undo it. If there is anything in your account you want to keep, export it from the sidebar while you still can.
After a removal your club can bar your email address from being used to join that club again, and by default it does. We keep that address for as long as the bar lasts, and your club's administrators can see it — they need to know whose bar it is to decide whether to lift one. They can lift it at any time, so ask them if you think it should be.
Your account is yours. Do not let anyone else use it, and do not use anyone else's. Tell us or your club's administrators if you think someone has got into your account.
You need to be 13 or over to have an account. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use it.
Longroom shows your club's cricket records. Please:
If you seriously break these rules, we may close your account. We will tell you why, and your club's administrators too.
Be aware that closing an account deletes it. Where we can, we will suspend rather than close — that pauses your access without destroying anything, and it can be undone if you appeal successfully. Unless the matter is urgent, we will email you first and give you a chance to reply before we act either way. If we have closed your account and you think we got it wrong, email us and a person will read it, but we will not be able to give you your conversations back.
You can ask Longroom questions in ordinary language and an AI assistant answers them by querying your club's records.
It makes mistakes. It can misread your question, look in the wrong place, or describe a correct result badly. We check answers against the underlying data before showing them, and we keep working on it, but we cannot promise any answer is right.
So enjoy it, argue with it, but check anything that matters against the actual scorecards before relying on it, and certainly before telling someone at the bar that their average is worse than they think.
The statistics pages, match log and player profiles work differently. Those come from a fixed set of queries we have written and checked in advance, rather than from a query composed on the spot for your question, so they are at least consistent: ask twice, get the same answer. They can still be wrong, either because a query makes a mistaken assumption or because the underlying Play-Cricket records are thin, which for older seasons and some kinds of match they are. The page says so where it can. We do not guarantee that any figure in the app is right.
Questions can run out. Your club's subscription includes a monthly allowance, shared across everyone at the club. If it is used up, the question box is replaced by a note saying so until the start of the next month. It is nothing you have done, and everything else in the app carries on working as normal: statistics, the match log, profiles and the games.
What we collect about you, why, and what you can do about it, is in the Privacy Policy. The short version:
Your club's cricket records, meaning the scorecards you appear in, belong to your club and come from Play-Cricket. Questions about those go to your club.
We will provide Longroom with reasonable care and skill. We are not excluding that, and we could not if we wanted to.
We cannot promise the service will always be available or free of faults. It is a small service run by one person, and it depends on other services that can fail, including hosting, Play-Cricket and the AI provider. Sometimes it will be down.
We may change or remove features. We have no way to put a notice inside the app, so if we remove something you would miss, we will say so here and email you where we can.
If we cause you loss by failing to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of that failure.
We are not responsible for:
We never exclude our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
You can stop at any time. Delete your account from the sidebar and we delete your account data with it.
Your access also ends if your club removes you, and pauses if your club suspends you. It ends too if your club ends its agreement with us.
We may close your account if you seriously break these terms, as described above.
If your club leaves Longroom, your account is deleted. Not paused: deleted, along with your conversation history, 30 days after your club's agreement with us ends. That is a decision you had no part in, which is why the rule is stated here. If you want to keep anything, export it from the sidebar before then. Your club should tell you it is leaving; if we can reach you, we will too.
When your account is deleted, your personal account data goes. Your club's cricket records stay with your club. Your name appears on scorecards because you played in those matches, and that is your club's record, not your account.
We may update these terms. Every version has a date, and we record which version you accepted when you joined.
We do not currently interrupt you in the app to ask you to accept a new version. When we change these terms we publish the new version here with a new date, and if we have your email and the change is significant, we will email you. Continuing to use Longroom after a change is published means you accept it, and if you do not, you can delete your account at any time in one click from the sidebar.
A prompt that asks you directly exists and is switched off until these terms are settled; until it is on, this clause describes what happens.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can bring proceedings in your own country's courts, and if you live in England or Wales, in the courts of England and Wales.
This does not take away protections you have where you live. If the law of your own country gives you consumer rights that cannot be contracted out of, you keep them.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Nobody other than you and us can enforce these terms.
Complaints. Email hello@longroom.app and we will get back to you.
If it is about your personal data, you have a specific right to complain to us: we must acknowledge it within 30 days, investigate it and tell you the outcome. How that works is in the Privacy Policy. You can also go to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk at any time.
